I was on a film set (30 DAYS OF NIGHT) a few years ago in Auckland casually lounging around in my Skins’n'Sharps Melbourne 2006 t-shirt when a guy came up and told me he was from Sydney. What he was really curious about though was what the text on the t-shirt meant. More interested in feeding my face before having to chat with movie stars I offhandedly responded with the phrase, “Don’t worry mate, you wouldn’t understand, it was an exhibition about something unique to Melbourne”. The dude nearly flipped out. “Haven’t you heard of the Paddo Sharps?” he stammered. He started vibrating like he was going to throw a punch but calmed down enough before storming off adding, “Well they were big time and the Celibate Rifles immortalised them better than any pissweak poofters out of Melbourne.” You know what, he was right about the tune. Check out “The Paddo Sharps” on the Rifles album A Mid-Stream of Consciousness. Oak Park Rules!
