What about the earlier sharpies that were around in the mid sixties.Short cut hair maroon crestknit shirts or knitted shirts with the GT stripes across the chest and the pants were 22 inch cuffed window pane checked flags. And ultra violent as well around the western suburbs and also knew of some guys out Coburg way who would give the up and coming Mods some heavy beltings.Altona had a pretty good reputation of stay away if you werent local.Park at the end of Pier Street in summer was good for a fight when the wogs from St. Albans turned up.

i remember those days roman ….. to me they were the real sharps mate…it sort of lost it,s way and ten years later had mutated into a sharp/bogan/glam/skinhead mixture !!!! very sad… at the start ’sharp’ meant ’sharp’….short neat hair, flags, italian shoes, maroon cardigan or jumper with crestknit underneath…that certain walk etc. etc. as they say ‘those were the days’ the later sharps get all the glory its about time someone documented the early days !!!!!! cheers. chris o’h.

I am a Daughter of a 60’s Sharpie/Bushie..
I’m intrigued by the Fashion and Style that it Boasted!
I find it extremely amazing how the style shifted in a couple of years.. from EXTREMELY SHARP…. Tweedie, twinsets stripes and pearls
To RAZORS EDGE!! TIGHT TIGHT TIGHT! (Awesome!)
My Mum Boast that the Fashion change was Horrible…She didn’t take to the Skinhead look.. but my Aunties and Uncles all did!! and they all looked awesome!
But she’d still go about calling herself a SHAPRIE any day! And I dare say she still does… what with her stripes and Pearls!!
Bring on the Sharpie look… kicks ass over the Mod look anyday!
